Why Hospital Surfaces & Expansion Joints Need Repair

As concrete ages, both concrete surfaces and expansion joints wear out with time, even in the interiors.
When it comes to parking garages and other exterior areas, cracks and delamination are likely to occur sooner due to weather elements.

We repair interior and exterior expansion joints, as well as concrete surfaces to eliminate tripping hazards and stop leaks, to ensure a much longer useful life.

Our Solutions

Crack Repair
We can repair single defined and multiple cracks thanks to the monolithic adhesion provided by our products. Concrete surfaces can be fully restored making slab replacement unnecessary (it is only done when specified by engineers).

Patching
We do only minimal demolition since we can install patches as thin as 5 mm thanks to our specialised materials and application methods. Thin patch applications also allow for floor levelling.

Interior Expansion Joints
Our specialised fast-curing materials provide immediate bonding, making it possible to minimise downtime, which is crucial in maintaining normal hospital and clinic operations.

Exterior Expansion Joints
We are able to do negative-side injection which enables us
to repair expansion joints in podium roofs of parking garages, without excavation. Our liquid rubber materials ensure efficient joint waterproofing and repair on any surface – ceiling, wall, and floor.

Application Benefits

Minimal Impact on Operations
Not to disrupt operations, we coordinate with the client and work during off-peak hours. We use fast-setting materials that ensure time-efficient repairs. Our crews experienced in specialised work always use appropriate PPE and follow specific requirements.

Zero-VOC Materials
Specialised fast-setting, odor-free materials ensure no interruptions, especially in such crucial hospital areas as Operating Rooms and ICUs. Noise and dust levels are also controlled through the use of temporary enclosures.

Smooth Finishes
Appropriate finishes of floor surfaces, especially of interior expansion joints, are vital for patient comfort and transport of equipment.

Repair Methods

REPAIR METHODS

Crack Repair

To repair a crack on any concrete surface, a clearly defined procedure is followed: cracks are prepped and then treated with industrial-grade adhesive, after which they are filled with polymer cement and a waterproofing primer.

Concrete Patching

Under traditional repair methods, patching concrete requires a minimum of two-inch demolition in the affected area.
The use of industrial-strength adhesives and polymer cement permits thin patch applications, even on walls and ceilings.

The combination of these materials creates a monolithic patch which allows us to restore structural integrity of the  repaired slab.

Expansion Joints

Injection ports are installed, allowing our specialised materials to be injected. They have tremendous adhesion power capable of binding cracked concrete and displacing any accumulated water, not allowing it to re-enter.

Concrete slabs can still expand and contract due to the nature of the materials used.

At the same time, such injection seals any cracks in
the membrane, preventing any leaks from recurring.

Ledge-Beams.jpg

Ledge Beams

To reach the expansion joint above the ledge beam, it is necessary to drill through close 40 to centimeters of concrete.
To ensure proper drilling, a guided rail drill is used.

Filling the entire volume of the expansion joint with soft rubber will remove any accumulated water, creating permanent adhesion to concrete slabs, which allows the entire structure
to continue operating as it was originally designed.
